Discover the new robot barn at Nurmela Farm!
Nurmela Farm celebrated the grand opening of its new barn on September 18th, 2025. The event brought together visitors to see a modern and efficient freestall barn designed to support both smooth workflow and cow comfort.
The new barn features five milking robots, wide side feeding tables, and natural ventilation with curtain walls. A dedicated VIC area and robot group for fresh cows ensures optimal recovery and close monitoring. The barn environment was also designed for ease of work — solid floors with scrapers and deep stalls provide a clean, comfortable, and efficient setting.
A thorough planning process preceded construction. The 4dBarn Invest was done in 2022 to identify a suitable site and outline the overall barn and farmyard concept with a preliminary cost estimate. In February 2023, the actual design process began through the 4dBarn Designed program, and by June, the operational plan, layout, work simulations, and gate designs were finalized.
