Discover the new robot barn at Kurikka Farm!
Kurikka Farm in Hailuoto, Finland celebrated the opening of its new barn on October 16th, 2025. Visitors were welcomed to explore a compact, efficient, and modern robotic barn where every square meter has been carefully designed for smooth workflow and cow welfare.
Before the design phase, the farm focused on analyzing work routines in robotic milking and updating herd management practices to meet modern standards. The result is a practical and space-efficient freestall barn optimized for both efficiency and comfort.
The 4dBarn Invest was completed at the end of 2022 to identify the best building site and estimate initial costs. The detailed design began in summer 2024 through the 4dBarn Designed training program, and by August, the operational plan, layout, work simulations, and gate layouts were ready. Online courses proved helpful in meeting the tight design schedule. Building permit drawings were prepared by Arkkitehtitoimisto Jouni Pitkäranta Oy.
Key features of the new barn:
- 3-row compact freestall barn
- 2x DeLaval milking robots
- Feed wall
- Solid floors with scrapers
- VIC area
- Natural ventilation with curtain walls
